Background:

Dr Lai Junxu graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore, in 2008. During his undergraduate years, he topped his cohort in Neuroscience, and was also awarded the Ratnam Book Prize for being the top student in his batch in the study of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He did his medical and surgical electives overseas in Cedars Sinai Medical Center, California. Outside school, he served in Crisis Relief Singapore and also volunteered in overseas medical missions to Batam (with Tzu Chi Organisation) and Senggarang (with Wesley Methodist Church).

After graduation, he rotated through various disciplines of clinical practice in Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children Hospital, before going back to serve his national service with the Republic of Singapore Navy. Dr Lai went through the Naval Underwater Medical Officer Course (Hyperbaric Medicine) and is a certified Designated Work Doctor (Compressed Air Works). He was appointed Medical Officer-in-charge of the Tuas Naval Base and is currently with the Ambulance Craft Medical Team during his reservist.

Since 2010, he has been the resident locum doctor at Thomson Medical Centre 24-hours Family Clinic. Dr Lai also has prior work experience as a locum doctor at the Accident and Emergency Departments at both Mount Alvernia Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Orchard Hospital. He is thus familiar with a range of areas in medicine, particularly paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology as well as emergency medicine. Dr Lai then went on to complete his Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine in 2012.

Apart from clinical practice, Dr Lai is interested in the field of medical/healthcare informatics. During his time at Changi General Hospital (“CGH”), Dr Lai was part of the medical informatics team that did the ground work for CGH to successfully attain the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Level 6 accreditation. Given his work and experience in the area of medical informatics, Dr Lai was invited as panelist at the Healthcare Innovators Forum 2013. His last appointment in the public healthcare service was Resident Physician in the Department of Medical Informatics at CGH, with part-time clinical practice at the Accident and Emergency Department. He now provides telemedicine consultations via the telemedicine portal on My-Doc platform.

Since November 2013, Dr Lai has been running the home care programme of patients from Yong-En Care Centre. Dr Lai sees a pressing need to reach out to such patients especially with Singapore’s aging population. In 2014, Dr Lai has partnered Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities Ensuite Care Services to provide home care services to needy patients. In 2015, Dr Lai was conferred the Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award (CC – GP Partnership TA) for him to pursue the Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine course which he successfully completed in 2016. The study of palliative medicine has equipped Dr Lai with the knowledge and skills, to extend his home care services to benefit dying patients in their last days. He also helped the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC)’s Holistic care for Medically-advanced patients (HOME) programme which is a palliative home care service for patients with end-stage organ diseases before it closed down. Dr Lai also helped Jurong Health ServicesSub-acute Ambulatory care for Functionally challenged and/or Elderly (SAFE) programme – the first ambulatory home care programme in Singapore before it closed down. In 2016, Dr Lai has expanded his home care service by collaborating with Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital and the Home Nursing Foundation to help provide medical services at the homes of their patients. As part of his plans for Omnimed Healthcare to gain a greater foothold in the medical home care industry, Dr Lai clinched the the contract to provide medical service to the residents at Ren Ci Nursing Home @ Bukit Batok. Dr Lai also has admitting rights for inpatient admissions to both Thomson Medical Centre as well as Concord Cancer Hospital. In 2017, Dr Lai started to provide medical consultation service to Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital’s GeriCare@North Nursing Home patients. He also started to help Jurong Health Services’ Hospital-to-Home (H2H) programme – an extension of the SAFE programme to post-hospital discharge home care. Dr Lai was part of the team that was awarded the ACES (AIC Cares with Excellent Service) Outstanding Team award after receiving good external compliments.

Dr Lai is accredited by the Ministry of Health as a Family Physician, and is able to conduct the functional assessment for Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Grant and Pioneer Disability Assistance Scheme (PioneerDAS). Dr Lai is also accredited by the Office of the Public Guardian in Singapore as an issuer of the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Certificate, to protect the interests of patients in the event they lose their mental capacity. He also does domestic inter-hospital transfers and overseas medical evacuation (land or air).

Dr Lai is also a firm believer of health and wellness as an adjunct to the treatment of acute and chronic diseases. He is accredited by the National Skin Centre in the field of botox, fillers, Intense Pulse Light Therapy, laser hair removal and chemical peel.

Outside of work, Dr Lai enjoys spends time with his wife and three young boys – be it getting active on the soccer pitch or discovering new eating places together! A petrolhead who enjoys fast cars – truly a doctor on the go!

Background:

Dr Hannah graduated from the University of Glasgow (UK) in 2014. As an undergraduate, she represented her university in various local and international conferences like the International Symposium on Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (ISICEM) 2018 in Brussels, Belgium, and the Society for Emergency Medicine in Singapore (SEMS) 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting in Singapore. She also auditted the Hip Fracture Management pathway in Elderly Patients for the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network. Aside from these ventures, Dr Hannah did her medical and surgical electives back in Singapore under NUH, SGH and TTSH. She also volunteered in overseas medical missions to Batam (with Alive Community Church) and was a clinical examinations trainer to her peers and juniors at school.

After graduation, she worked in various Singapore government institutions as a medical officer, honing her skills in acute medicine in an inpatient, emergency medicine and intensive care unit settings as well as chronic disease management in polyclinic setting, palliative medicine in a home hospice setting, geriatric and community medicine in a community hospital setting. She later went on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine in 2022.

Since February 2022, Dr Hannah has been working with the Home Nursing Foundation and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities Ensuite Care Services to provide home care services to patients of various social and medical backgrounds, most of whom have difficulty leaving their home for medical checkups. She finds being able to look after patients and their families as caregivers rewarding, as part of long term holistic care for an individual.
Dr Hannah, mother to a little girl with a baby boy on the way, enjoys spending time with her family, which also includes a cat and a dog. Very involved in church youth work with teenagers and the young working population, one can say she’s intrigued by the generations from young to old.

Background:

Dr Yee graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore, in 2009. During his undergraduate years, he had cultivated an interest in providing care to the needy and poor. As such, when he was given the opportunity for overseas electives, he did a 6 weeks stint at Varsity Christian Hospital in a small town called Oddanchatram in South India. Upon graduation, he also went for a medical mission to the Philippines with his church to serve the tribal people.

After graduating, he rotated through various disciplines of clinical practice including National Cancer Centre; National Heart Centre; KK Women and Children Hospital (Paediatrics department); Accident and Emergency (A&E) of Alexandra Hospital as well as a one year rotation at National Healthcare Group of polyclinics.

In 2013, he joined a heartland practice (The Family clinic @ Tampinese) as their resident general practitioner before switching to a town practice (Q&M Medical).

Dr Yee is also a firm believer of health and wellness as an adjunct to the treatment of acute and chronic diseases. In 2014, he was accredited by the Aesthetic Dermatology Education Group (ADEG) in the field of Intense Pulse Light Therapy, laser hair removal and pigment lasers. He also started to work under Dr Goh Seng Heng as one of the resident locums at PPP Laser Clinic for Pores, Pimples and Pigmentation. In addition, to further his interest in chronic care within the community, Dr Yee went on to complete his Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM). He was also accredited by the Ministry of Health as a Family Physician.

In 2015, Dr Yee saw the need to extend community care beyond the conventional patients with acute illness and/or chronic medical conditions to patients who are terminally ill – an area of medicine where there is a current gap in. He was conferred the Community Care – GP Partnership Training Award (CC – GP Partnership TA) for the pursuant of his Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine – Dip (Pall Med) which he successfully completed in 2016. This was done in partnership with Dover Park Hospice. He also became a certified Eldershield/IDAPE assessor, doing home visits to perform assessments on patients who are severely disabled and unable to get to a healthcare facility.

In 2016, Dr Yee extended his community care reach to patients from Ren Ci Nursing Home @ Bukit Batok as well as palliative home care for Dover Park Hospice patients.

Dr Yee’s interest lies in home care for the elderly and disabled. He hopes to deliver quality service to them at their home so that their medical needs can be met at their convenience.

Outside of work, Dr Yee spends time with his three kids doing fishing, prawning and outdoor excursions. And when his kids are asleep, he plans late night supper escapades with his wife.
